- Ecthelion

Gender: Male

Race: Gondorian man

Home: Minas Tirith, Gondor

Hair: White

Eyes: n/a

Appearance: Tall, with a proud bearing that belies his age

Weapon(s) of choice: n/a

Son: Denethor

Fic(s): Traitor

History: Ecthelion was the twenty-fifth Ruling Steward of Gondor and a wise, generous, and noble leader. He ruled during the course of several tumultuous seasons in Gondor and was well loved. It was Echtelion who began the practice of inviting foreign soldiers to come and fight for Gondor.

MC Bio: Amongst others one of the men to be hired was called Thorongil. Though Ecthelion did not know it, Thorongil was truly Aragorn, the future king, in disguise. The Steward grew to esteem Thorongil highly, both because of the young man’s skill and leadership in the battlefield, and also because of his honest character. Unfortunately if Ecthelion had a fault it was a difficulty handling his son Denethor. While Denethor was also a fine leader, Ecthelion frequently favored Thorongil as the wiser, less stubborn commander - treating Denethor more as a subject and less as a son - and it caused Denethor to grow jealous. It was a trait Ecthelion’s heir would carry on into the relationships with his own sons, but sadly few of Ecthelion’s better traits would be carried on in a similar fashion. When Thorongil requested permission to return to his home Ecthelion reluctantly agreed, and when - after the battle against the Corsairs of Umbar - Thorongil disappeared, the Steward never saw him again. He died in 2984 of the Third Age.

- Eldarion

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Home: Gondor

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Blue

Appearance: Tall and slender

Weapon(s) of choice: n/a

Fic(s): CN8, PT and AstE

MC Bio: Aragorn’s very first child and only son, Eldarion was just like his father. Just as interested in the world around him, ready for adventure, brave, loyal with a clear sense of justice. When Eldarion was just a small child he was kidnapped by slavers who sold him to the blood pit owners in Rahzon to be a 'cage brat', a child who could fit in between the fighters bars and patch up their wounds. There he befriended Legolas and though the elf did not know who the child was, he grew to love him like a son and looked after him through the dark days of captivity. In return Eldarion was a bright hope in the elf's life and later, when Aragorn found them, the two had become very close sharing a unique trust in one another. Later when Eldarion was kidnapped by an old enemy of Aragorn’s, Eldarion proved himself once again to be more than a weakling prince, trying once to escape and refusing to despair in front of his enemies. Later through a sacrifice of Legolas’, Aragorn and Eldarion are reunited. Much later, when Legolas and Aragorn leave with Arwen and Gimli for the havens, Eldarion was left with the throne and people of Gondor under his rule.

- Elladan

Meaning: 'Man of the Stars' [dialect: n/a]

Gender: Male

Race: Elf

Home: Rivendell

Hair: Dark brown

Eyes: Brown

Appearance: Tall and identical to his twin

Weapon(s) of choice: Bow and arrows, sword

Father: Elrond

Mother: Celebrían

Brothers: Elrohir and Aragorn

Sister: Arwen

Fic(s): Hope, FL, FM, CoM, Return, MI, Vilya, BB, Sickness, PT, SoH, NA, CoA, SoD, BDD and AstE

History: Elladan had a happy childhood with his twin brother and soul-mate, Elrohir, and his younger sister Arwen. As they grew older Elladan and his brother followed in the steps of their father and became skilled in both arts of elven warriors and also of lore and healing. When, in their adulthood, Celebrían was captured by orcs Elladan and Elrohir rescued her, but though they brought her back to their father for healing, she no longer had the will to live in Middle Earth and passed over the sea. Filled with grief over her departure and furious hatred for those responsible Elladan and his twin set out on a killing spree of all the orcs they could find in the area. For this slaughter they took the names of their swords, Elladan's being 'Dehlfalhen' (meaning: 'Orc Slayer'). The killing ceased around the time of a new arrival into their lives. Elladan was friends with Arathorn, leader of the Dúnedain, and when the ranger was killed by orcs Elladan and Elrohir brought his son Aragorn back to Rivendell for their father to raise. As Aragorn grew he was treated as a brother by the twins.

MC Bio: Protective almost to a fault, Elladan was very much like his father and took it upon himself to personally look after the safety of everyone in his family. Particularly he considered Aragorn and Elrohir his responsibilities, even though his twin was his equal in combat, and (though young to an elf) the human became perfectly capable of looking after himself. Because of Aragorn he became good friends with Prince Legolas of Mirkwood, drawing the elf in as yet another half-brother in many respects -- a relationship furthered by Legolas' mutual care for Aragorn. Serious at times, humorous and inclined to tease at others, Elladan also possessed the air of a lord. He was a fine horseman as well. Eventually he and his brother traveled over the sea to Valinor.

Asking for only the financial aid of Elnon’s kingdom in return Melèch offered the greedy king the aid of his Gondrauko to deal with the wildmen. In the end Elnon was killed by Dor-Gor the Gondrauko.

Gender: Male

Race: Elf

Appearance: Tall and identical to his twin

Weapon(s) of choice: Bow and arrows, sword

Father: Elrond

Mother: Celebrían

Brothers: Elladan and Aragorn

Sister: Arwen

Fic(s): Hope, FL, FM, CoM, Return, MI, Vilya, BB, Sickness, PT, SoH, NA, CoA, SoD, BDD and AstE

History: Elrohir had a happy childhood with his twin brother and soul-mate, Elladan, and his younger sister Arwen. As they grew older Elrohir and his brother followed in the steps of their father and became skilled in both arts of elven warriors and also of lore and healing. When, in their adulthood, Celebrían was captured by orcs Elrohir and Elladan rescued her, but though they brought her back to their father for healing, she no longer had the will to live in Middle Earth and passed over the sea. Filled with grief over her departure and furious hatred for those responsible Elrohir and his twin set out on a killing spree of all the orcs they could find in the area. For this slaughter they took the names of their swords, Elrohir's being 'Glamferaen' (meaning: 'Goblin Bane').

MC Bio: In many ways just like his mother, Elrohir was the more sensitive of the twins - more easily inclined to sorrow and jesting alike. These emotional tendencies generally led to his brother being particularly protective of him, but Elrohir exhibited the same over-protectiveness to Aragorn as well. In a pitched battle there was little that could be chosen between the brothers; also in horse riding and hunting. Through Aragorn Elrohir also became good friends with Prince Legolas of Mirkwood. Eventually he and his brother traveled over the sea to Valinor.

- Elrond

Gender: Male

Race: Elf

Home: Rivendell

Hair: Dark brown

Eyes: Brown

Appearance: Tall, strong

Weapon(s) of choice: Sword

Father: Eärendil

Mother: Elwing

Brother: Elros

Wife: Celebrían

Children: Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen and Aragorn

Fic(s): CoD, Hope, FL, FM, Return, MI, Vilya, BB, Sickness, PT, SoH, NA, DV, EfM, CoA, SoD, BDD and AstE

History: Son of Eärendil the Mariner and Elwing the White, and brother of Elros (who, when granted the choice of the Half-elven, chose mortality with men rather than immortality amongst the elves). Elrond fought in the Last Alliance beside Gil-galad and by him was given the elven Ring of Air: Vilya. With the ring he founded Imladris (Rivendell) and kept it safe from the eye of Sauron and the invasion of other evils. He married Celebrían -- daughter of Galadriel and Celeborn of Lorien -- and had with her three children: Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen. After Celebrían was captured by orcs and then brought back to Elrond by his two sons, he was able to heal her body, but she had wearied of Middle Earth and traveled over the sea, leaving her family behind. Though keeping himself generally within the bounds of his realm, Elrond was still quite ready to give aid outside of Rivendell. One such mission he undertook in the guise of 'Lord Esgel' into Dorolyn and there he met and rescued Prince Legolas. In bringing the young prince home to Mirkwood he first developed a certain good will with Thranduil, but he did not see the prince again until much later when a friendship sprang up between Legolas and Aragorn, or 'Estel' as the human was then called.

MC Bio: Elrond adopted Aragorn after the death of the boy's parents and proceeded to bring him up as his own son. Wise and far-seeing, he gave the young future king both his advice, his aid, and his love all through Aragorn's life in Rivendell -- teaching him both of the history of men and that of elves as well as passing on his own skills in healing. Elrond also served as a place of return for Aragorn and Legolas, helping them recover from countless injuries and jesting that without him there would be little left of them - a joke with was all too true. Powerful, yet kind, Elrond recognized early on the threat rising in the East and did his best to prepare to meet it, though like all of the wise he too failed to recognize the duplicity of Saruman. Elrond was an old friend of the wizard Gandalf the Grey. With the destruction of the One Ring, Vilya's own power was broken, and after seeing his daughter and adopted son happily wed, the Lord of Rivendell boarded a ship and sailed for Valinor, there to be reunited with his wife and await the arrival of his children.

Race: Elf

Home: Numenor

Hair: Dark

Eyes: Brown

Appearance: Identical to his twin

Weapon(s) of choice: n/a

Father: Eärendil

Mother: Elwing

Brother: Elrond

Fic(s): NA

History: Elros and his twin brother were separated from their parents while still young. They were taken captive and kept first in the dungeons of Maedhros until Maedhros’ brother Maglor asked to be given charge over them. Elros and Elrond eventually grew to care for Maglor, and he for them, but the years in captivity had solidified in Elros the feeling that he did not, in fact, belong in the world of elves. Because of their unique heritage, being Peredhil - part elf, part man - Elros and his brother were given a choice as to which kindred they would become. Elros chose to be a human. He was the first king of Numenor, beginning a line that would flourish and last for many hundreds of years. Though it would one day come close to failing, it would yet again be carried on in Elrond’s adopted son Aragorn. Elros’ reign lasted over four hundred years (even as a mortal, the Valar had granted him and his descendents long life) and at the end of those years he died.

MC Bio: At the time of Aragorn’s and Legolas’ first meeting, Elros had already died.

Appearance: Tall, slender and beautiful

Weapon(s) of choice: n/a

Husband: Thranduil

Son: Legolas

Fic(s): TLR

History: Beautiful and serene the lady Elvéwen was both a joy and light to Mirkwood’s dark days. Both deeply in love with her husband and encouraging and loving to her son, Elvéwen was a dear treasure to her family as well. Having a Silvan heritage gave Elvéwen a stronger connection to nature, a trait she passed onto her son. Elvéwen’s heart both caring and strong could also be fragile, Thranduil had realized this and was always cautious with his wife’s feelings, not wishing to upset her. Because of this Elvéwen could, in some ways, understand her son far better because Legolas had inherited similar personality traits, something Thranduil could not seem to understand. It was Elvéwen who eventually discovered what Doriflen had been doing to Legolas and relayed it to Thranduil. Nearly suffering a truly broken heart when Legolas was kidnapped by Doriflen later in his life, she was relieved beyond belief when her son was finally returned to her by Thranduil.

While he was sailing, two of the sons of Fëanor came upon Elwing and her sons. They demanded the Silmaril, bound as they were by the foolish oaths they had made to reclaim the gems. Knowing to hand over the Silmaril would be disastrous, Elwing was forced to leave her sons behind. She cast herself into the sea, hoping to take the Silmaril to its depths and beyond all retrieval, but Ulmo, Lord of the Sea, intervened. Elwing was transformed into a great white bird, the Silmaril upon her breast, and she went in search of Eärendil.
