Adrian Monk (1959-present) and Trudy Anne Monk (1962-1997) met on August 12, 1990.
7 years later, while getting Adrian's brother some cough-syrup,
Trudy died in a car-bomb, leaving Adrian devistated by her murder. Though a brilliant
detective, 4 years later, Adrian Monk has still been unable to solve Trudy's murder. Perhaps he
is just too close to the case to ever see it the same way as he does his other cases.
Trudy was smart, soft-spoken, and very accepting if not even enamored with Adrian's Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She liked to walk barefoot, kept every promise she ever made, wrote poetry and liked to put Cinnamon in her tea. Trudy's last words were "Bread and Butter". It was something that she often used to say to Adrian, when they were walking together and had to let go of each others' hands to let a post or a crowd of people go between them. It was her way of saying "Even though we're apart, we're still together. Like bread and butter." And true to her last words, though Trudy's gone, Adrian still feels as though they aren't apart. She is most definately the only women he ever loved...and possibly ever will. Here is a complete list of the Monk episodes that Adrian and Trudy are in together UP TO THE END OF SEASON 3.
